Dr. Julie S. Hwang, BSc ND
Born and raised in Toronto, Dr. Hwang attended the University of Toronto Schools from grades 7-12. As a competitive sports person in soccer, swimming and volleyball, she was interested in physical medicine and exercise science. She pursued pre-medical sciences in Montreal at McGill University obtaining her degree in Human Physiology, where she was on the Physiology League of Students (PULS) council and the President of the McGill Fine Arts Club and involved in other extra curricular sports. She went on an exchange to the National University of Singapore where she was able to partake in neurophysiology laboratory research and played varsity soccer.
Upon graduation from McGill University, she moved from Montreal back to Toronto and attended the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine for her 4-year Doctor of Naturopathy degree where she was awarded scholarships - the Linda Ganly Memorial and the Naturomedic.com Awards - for excellence in Naturopathic Medicine.
Dr. Hwang also worked at the live-in Humlegaarden International Cancer Hospital in Denmark supporting patients with cancer and their families and did clinical research at the University of Toronto Epilepsy Research Program (UTERP and OBI) on PUFAs and intractable epilepsy. Upon graduation, she opened private practice in downtown Toronto's financial district, expanded to a midtown practice, and then also opened her own integrative collaborative clinic, Aurum Medicine & Wellness Clinic, at the vibrant corner of Bloor & Christie.
Since launching a web-marketing business for practitioners and clinic owners in 2012 and building a charitable organization, she has been consulting with entrepreneurs, clinic owners, practitioners and executives on individual leadership skills and business development. She has expertise in small-business development, operations, implementation of health practice management technology (including electronic health records systems, direct billing systems, and office management softwares), online marketing solutions (social media, website, sales funnels) and process development. With experience in various industries including Real Estate, Corporate Wellness, Health and Environmental, she has served a diverse portfolio of people, organizations and businesses in the non-profit/charitable and for-profit sectors.
Dr. Hwang currently serves as the Treasurer of the Institute of Green and Open Sciences (IGOS), the former Executive Director and current Advisory Board member of the charitable non-profit called Women's Healthy Environments Network (WHEN) and is the Canadian Ambassador of the International Congress on Naturopathic Medicine (ICNM) where she leads global marketing strategy and initiatives.
Dr. Hwang is board-certified and licensed by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO) and has passed the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations (NPLEX I and II) in North America.
